Don’t you just love this time of year?
The days are longer, the weather warms up, and summer’s in full swing.
And I know your kitty has been enjoying those extra hours to nap in the sun!
My cat Miko can’t resist curling up in a sunny spot — especially if he can also watch birds from the window.
But as the temps get higher, there’s something important to keep in mind:
Hydration!
Because whether they’re indoors or outdoors, your cat can get dehydrated in the blink of an eye.
You see, cats lose fluids when they go to the bathroom (#1 and #2), when they sweat, and even when they groom themselves.
What’s more, cats can be very particular about their water, and might not drink if it isn’t fresh enough for their liking.
So it’s absolutely vital to refill your kitty’s water at least 1-2 times a day.
But when the weather warms up, sometimes I like to treat my kitties to a refreshing, hydrating boost with a summer staple:
Watermelon.
That’s right. This classic summer fruit is the ultimate cat “hydration hack.”
And today I’m going to share my recipe for cat-friendly Watermelon Ice — a refreshing treat that’s sure to be a huge hit with your kitty!
Now, I’ll get into all the benefits of watermelon in just a second — but first, let me give you the recipe:
And that’s all there is to it!
This refreshing snack is great for hydration. After all, watermelon is 92% water.
It’s also loaded with vitamin C, which can support your cat’s immune system and fiber which promotes smoother digestion.
Plus, watermelon contains very few calories, so small servings are okay for cats who are “watching their weight.”
I can’t wait for your cat to try these!
Even though your warm-weather plans might look different from last year’s…
I know that you and your kitty can still make the most of every day.
All you need are these refreshing, hydrating treats, the warm sunshine, and your furry best friend by your side. 🙂
To you, and your best friend,
i’m going to try this. even just for my family to eat and drink with.
My dogs LOVE watermelon. This is a great idea! Can’t wait to try these with them and our kitties!
