Why Freeze-Dried Raw?

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Nature’s Feast — Fish & Poultry and some other store-bought cat foods

Nature’s Feast is:

  • 87% REAL premium cuts of meat… because your cat needs a high-protein diet for their healthy joints and muscles, and soft, silky coat.
  • FREE from artificial preservatives and synthetic vitamin and mineral powders… We naturally keep our food fresh — that way, your cat can easily absorb the nutrients from REAL meat, veggies, fruits, and seeds
  • Minimally processed — not blasted with high heat. We freeze-dry our food so it’s full of nutrients, bursting with savory flavor, and for a delicious texture cats love.
Is grain-free food ok for cats?

Your cat is an obligate carnivore, meaning they need a diet high in meat protein to survive and thrive.1

However many commercial grain-free cat foods are packed with ingredients like wheat and corn. As you can imagine, these ingredients are not as high in protein as the real meat your cat naturally craves.

That’s why Nature’s Feast is made with premium cuts of real salmon, turkey, whitefish, and organ meat to support your cat’s vital organs and youthful vitality. (And create a delicious blend of flavors even picky eaters love!)

Of course, it’s always a good idea to talk to your veterinarian before starting your cat on a new diet.

Why is this formula freeze-dried?

Many cat food companies cook their food at high temperatures, which can destroy many of the nutrients.

Instead, we gently freeze-dry Nature’s Feast — Essential Wellness — Fish & Poultry to help protect the nutrients your cat needs and the delicious flavor they love.

Does each breed need a different cat food?

They do not! I designed this formula to help cats of all breeds live a long, healthy, happy life.

How do I serve Nature’s Feast — Essential Wellness — Fish & Poultry to my cat?

If your cat likes dry food, Nature’s Feast is ready for them to enjoy the moment you scoop it from the bag.

But if your cat prefers wet food, it’s easy to prepare. Just combine 2 parts Nature’s Feast with 1 part water. Then let the food sit for 3 minutes before mixing it up and serving it to your eager kitty.

Do I need to refrigerate Dr. Marty Nature’s Feast?

You do not! Because Nature’s Feast is freeze-dried, a bag will keep for up to 3 months in the pantry after it’s been opened, so there’s no need to make space in the fridge.

Not to mention, the bags are extremely lightweight and they zip to seal, so they’re easy to store. (And there’s no need to fuss with stacks of cans or heavy cat food containers.)

What is the complete ingredient list for Nature’s Feast?

Salmon, Turkey, Whitefish, Chicken Liver, Chicken Heart, Chicken Gizzard, Sweet Potato, Flaxseed, Egg, Pumpkin Seeds, Peas, Carrot, Apple, Blueberry, Cranberry, Ginger, Salt, Kelp, Sunflower Seeds, Spinach, Broccoli, Kale, Mixed Tocopherols (preservatives).

What if Nature’s Feast doesn’t work for my cat? Is there a guarantee?

Absolutely. As a veterinarian, I take feline nutrition very seriously. So if you don’t see a noticeable improvement in your cat’s health and happiness, you can send back the unused portion of Nature’s Feast (or the empty bags) any time within 90 days and I’ll return your purchase price.

    Mallory

My senior fur baby has been just laying in the closet for years. I finally found this freeze dried food and he seems perkier, interested in laying in the sun again and has actually been jumping up on my bed to sleep with me again. Thank you for bringing my extra special and my best friend back to me!

This cat food is awesome. Freeze drying the food is perfect so all the good nutrients and taste are not cooked out of it. […] Wonderful pet food!

  7. 4 out of 5 My cat LOVED IT WILDLY!!!

    Linda Thomas

To my astonishment, as I walked by my delicate little gentle cat with the totally new & UNopened bag of these raw, freeze-dried little chunks, MY CAT WENT WILD (never since I owned her the past 7 years!) and PAWED VIGOROUSLY AT THE STILL-SEALED-UP BAG, even though I’d never bought it or anything like it before. When I opened the bag, her eyes opened VERY WIDE at the smell of it – like it was something very wonderful to her. Although the chunks seemed a little too large & hard for her to tackle, I just poured about a cup of them into my blender to crumble it to near-powder. Then, starting slowly as the website advised, I just stirred 1 teaspoon of the powder into her dish of canned food (to which I’d already added a few tablespoons of hot water to, as always, for a little gravy). The moment I got out of her way, SHE DEVOURED IT and was very excited at the “experience” it was for her! The bag is nearly all used up now, and she continues to eat it and get excited when I bring the little glass jar of the now-powdered food near her plate. This is clearly a GOOD THING for her. P.S. I’ve noticed that her BMs are larger & softer with less of a bad smell, and she has gradually lost her excess weight (not sure what else to attribute that to). Although she loves her meals, I find that she’s not endlessly craving food, which I think might be on account of her now feeling more SATISFIED (due to finally getting what she was needing all her life), and she has never lost interest in the Dr. Marty raw food ground treat that I add to her food. She can jump high again – higher than ever, in fact, and is a very happy cat – more affectionate & trusting than ever (even lets me trim her claws). I’m buying another bag today : )

  9. 5 out of 5 Mia is 14 and she looks and acts like a kitten again

    Debra Fox

Mia has been on the food and salmon snacks for just over 2 weeks. She loves it. She is 12 lbs and she eats 1 cup a day. I started out mixing the food with about half a cup of sodium free chicken broth and gradually decreased it until I am using almost all water. She is more content, calmer, more loving, her skin is fabulous and her fur is silky smooth with no oily look. She has more energy and is playful like she was years ago. […] She reminds me of the sweet little kitten she used to be.

  11. 5 out of 5 My heart is full

    Crystal Meo

My cat Lily has been by my side for 13 years. She just started losing weight which has made me concerned and sad. I decided to try Dr. Marty’s cat food. It has now been one month, and Lily has started to play, be more hyper, and is 100 percent LESS grumpy to other family members. I cannot believe it. Lily woke me up in the middle of the night by running playfully across me. This is something she used to get in trouble for. I sat up at 3 am and just smiled at her. She’s chasing toys this week and wanting to play. This is behavior I haven’t seen in a couple of years. Thank you so much for this wonderful product. Both my cats eat it dry and love it.

  15. 5 out of 5 So far, so good.

    Mona Fuller

Coco is about 11 years old and seemed to be more allergic to something, itchy. She’d keep me up some nights with her scratching…she was growing irritable…I finally came across your cat food after watching the video. Well, I am still transitioning her from her kibble and I believe she is better. More relaxed, friendlier and her coat is softer. Fingers crossed and about to order another bag!

  16. 5 out of 5 She's eating it!!!!

    Dr. Jo Turner

We did the transition diet as you suggested – and she is loving it! We would fix the old food and she would sniff and walk away only to return hours later to the dried out crusty stuff. Not any more!! We put the dish down and she is right there waiting for it. She eats the majority of it all at one sitting, but before mid-morning she has come back and cleaned it all up.

  17. 4 out of 5 Wonderful kitty food!

    Cheryl Biscoe

My kitties are doing well on this food. I am still phasing out their dry kibble, but it seems to be well tolerated. Rare vomiting, and if they do it’s the other kibble. I am still feeding some canned food but the cats really love that.

  18. 5 out of 5 Very Happy with this food!

    Janet Sunter

I have five cats, so it is difficult to please everyone, but after a couple of days, they are all enjoying this food (dry). It is high quality, and therefore little expensive to feed that many mouths, (not complaining), as I already feed another Dr.”s expensive dry food. I leave one bowl of Dr. Marty’s down, dry, and grind some up in food processor and mix the powder with their dry kibble. that seems to make everyone happy, including me, as I know they are all getting the added nutrition. I keep the powder in an airtight container so I always have it on hand. Additionally, they all love the salmon treats. Thank you

  19. 5 out of 5 More Energy

    Glynis

Wow, I’ve really noticed all of my cats seem to have a lot more energy after starting them on Dr. Marty’s cat food. They are more active, are starting to play like they did when they were younger, and I noticed their fur looks shinier. They didn’t immediately take to eating the freeze dried food but I would add a little warm water or warm chicken broth and they eat it right up, especially when I mix in a few of the salmon treats! I feel much better knowing I’m giving them healthy food.
